Crypton Future Media, the company that created Hatsune Miku and some of the other VOCALOID series has teamed up with SEGA and launched a game called "Project Diva" using VOCALOID characters.
Project Diva is a game for PSP. Using the "free play mode", you are supposed to click on the right button at the right timing of the music when the icon appears (like DanceDanceRevolution). You can change the room settings, gain items by playing which enables you to decorate the dances more. "Edit Mode" enables you to grab your MP3 music and add the characters to dance to it with your favorite background and favorite character with favorite costumes, create PVs and games out of it.
There's a bunch of videos of the games uploaded and here you can see some of them.
Look at the player's fingers toward the end of this video... amazing!
This one managed to trim out the character.
I wrote lots of posts about Hatsune Miku and MikuMikuDance(MMD) in the past, let's take a look at how MMD evolved :) This is the original MMD (VPVP) site.
MMD is a free tool to create choreography of 3D Miku model.
The evolution of MMD is actually AMAZING. This one is made with MMDver5.0- doing a bunch of physical calculation experiments using MMD.
Let's look at the history and evolution of MMD (this list is only featuring some big changes, there are lots and lots of small minor versions and changes).
Ver1 MMD was simply making Miku dance.
Ver2 enabled to use lightings, change camera settings, add accesories.
Ver3 was recreated from scratch. Added several character models such as Kagamine Ren, Yowane Haku and Akita Neru. Added dummy bone to move accessories. (Meiko model was added as Ver3.01A) Enabled people to create their own models.
Ver4 added twist mode, added local mode (which the object/character is center of the video creation) and global mode (which the environment is center of the video creation). Miku model ver2 was released. BTW, English mode was added from ver4.03.
Ver5 physical engine was added!
This is how local mode and global mode differs (the same x-y-z axis of Miku's elbow refer to different direction)

Enabling users to create their own models was a fantastic step. This is the summary page of MMD models and there's sooo many now from various VOCALOID series, animes and games. Website of Masa- the original creator of MMD 3DModel, Kio model, Monsters, maid Miku, Black Rock Shooter and many more by Anomaro, Nendroid and many more cute 3D Models by Hachi, and this list will go on and on forever so I'll stop now but it is simply AMAZING.
From ver 4.03 there is English version which you should definitely check out :D
Mr. Housuke Nojiri (producer name in NicoNicoDouga is Shiri-P), a science fiction writer is famous for his love of NicoNicoDouga.
Recently he won the SF prize (Seiun-shou星雲賞) for his SF novel "Peer Peer Douga from South Pole (南極点のピアピア動)". (Congratulations Nojiri-sensei!!)
A NicoNico user LK074 (his producer name in NicoNicoDouga is Chosaku-ken Bibiri-P 著作権ビビリP which means scared of the copyright) saw the lyrics of a song in the novel and created a music that goes with that lyrics for Nojiri-san, Mr. Takehiko Nadearahe - the professional artist who drew the pictures for "Peer Peer Douga from South Pole" provided the original picture and Chosaku-ken Bibiri-P created a video.
So I think we can say the following videos are peer production of a bunch of creators including professional and award-winning author using the NicoNicoDouga as a platform to create a content. I think this is AWESOME! The title "PeerPeerDouga" has its origins from "Peer Production" in the first place :)
This is another 3DPV of Hatsune Miku.
If you don't like scary stuff please do not watch this though.
